Hello, Book Nerds! Welcome back to Reading Has Ruined My Life or welcome if you are new. As always, my name is Hannah and I am your captain on this journey into my bookcases.
As it was recently the holiday season, and I only ask my friends and family for books for Christmas, my TBR pile has grown exponentially. It’s wonderful. I have so many titles to choose from. Not that I know exactly what book I want to read first. Which brings me to the point of today’s post. What’s on my TBR pile!?
Â
Below is a small sampling of the books I was lovingly gifted this past Christmas. These are the titles I’m most excited for. These are the ones that I can’t wait to sink my claws into. So let’s crack in.
5. Let’s kick things off with a horror title! Please give a warm welcome to Horror Movie by Paul Tremblay. There is something about meta media and the idea of cursed films that scratches an itch in my brain. And Horror Movie boasts both! I’m very much looking forward to sinking my claws into this read. Though I may wait till it’s slightly closer to Spooky Season simply for the vibes.
4. Next up we have The Fraud Squad by Kyla Zhao. When I heard there was a book that mixed Crazy Rich Asians and Gossip Girl, I was sold. Gossip Girl is a guilty pleasure of mine and that’s all it took to get me interested in this read. Plus I love the Fake-It-Till-You-Make-It vibes the main character, Samantha, has going for her. Stay tuned for a review on The Fraud Squad sometime soon.
3. At number three we have another horror title. Please give a warm round of applause to The Hacienda by Isabel Cañas. Haunted house! Haunted house! Haunted House! My favorite type of horror read. I honestly don’t want to admit how many haunted house stories I have on my TBR pile right now, but I will admit to The Hacienda.
2. Coming up next is Siren Queen by Nghi Vo. Let’s see, Siren Queen has a fierce female lead, Old Hollywood glamour, and ancient blood magic; yeah, it’s a ten-out-of-ten and I haven’t even read it yet.
1. Finally, at number one, we have What the River Knows by Isabel Ibañez. If you don’t know, ancient Egypt was my childhood hyper fixation. Anytime I find a read that deals with archeology and/or this ancient culture, I get very excited. Add in the fact this read has a mystery, enemies to lovers, and some magical realism. *chef’s kiss* I’m so ready. I really want a new series to fall in love with and I have such high hopes for What the River Knows.
Thus endeth our list! With that, I shall bid you all adieu. Thank you very much for joining me today. I hope you had a lovely time on RHRML today and maybe found a new book to enjoy. I will see you all again next week with a new review. If you can’t wait that long then you can always check out my podcast Nothing to See Hear. Me and two of my dearest friends talk everything from Disney to cryptids, historical figures to bad 90s wrestling, and Scooby-Doo to fairies. There’s bound to be something that strikes your fancy.

Until next time, stay safe, wash your hands, and read some good books for me.
