Hello, Book Nerds! Welcome back to Reading Has Ruined My Life or welcome if you are new. As always, my name is Hannah and I am your captain on this journey into my bookcases.
Break out the balloons! Break out the cake! Pour some champagne cause today is the 200th post of Reading Has Ruined My Life!
Three years and 200 posts. Wow. I’m so proud of myself. RHRML is a walking, talking toddler with a pretty extensive backlog at this point. I’m a proud mom. And to celebrate today I want to walk down memory lane. I want to share some of my favorite posts from the past three years.
I’ve written so many posts these last few years that it was actually very hard for me to narrow down my favorites. So many reviews. So many Hot Takes. So few Death Matches. We need to have more Death Matches. Soon. I promise. Tis almost Spooky Season after all.
Back to the point of today's post. I want to share with all of you some of my favorite RHRML posts. Below are said posts. There is no rhyme or reason to the order these posts are in. I just picked ones I really enjoyed writing and ones I’m really proud of. I stopped when I ran out of posts. Please enjoy! I hope you find some new posts to read and share and reread over and over again.
1. Starting off this list is none other than Dracula V. Frankenstein’s Monster: Who Will Win? Some of the most fun I’ve had writing for this blog. I love every versus match my friends and I have done, but I gotta put some respect on the OG’s name. If you only ever read one post from my blog, please let it be this one.
2. Next up is something fairly recent. Please welcome to the stage Vampires Are Gay and You’ll Never Change My Mind. This one was a labor of love. I went down so many rabbit holes when doing research for it. It’s the most serious thing I’ve written in ages. I love it and I’m proud of it.
3. Gaslight, Gatekeep, Girlboss: Let’s Talk About the Medieval Feminist Icon Christine de Pizan brings us in at number three. Christine de Pizan deserves more love and respect than she gets. Go read about this woman. Go learn about her. She’s my idol; I love her!
4. Next is a lovely little Hannah Hot Take called Human Sacrifice and Chill: A Look at “The Secret Room” by Alain Robbe-Grillet. The title says it all. I wrote this one all the way back in 2020 and I think it needs some more love.
5. Zoinks! It’s Cthulhu!: A Review of Meddling Kids by Edgar Cantero comes in at number five. This is also the first review I’ve put on this list. Listen, I just really like this book. It’s a ten-out-of-ten in my eyes. Also, I just really love the title I came up with for this review.
6. Let’s talk Poe now with Clocks and Cabbages: A Look at “The Devil in the Belfry” by Edgar Allan Poe. This is another Hannah Hot Take post and it is quite the hot take. This one’s a quick read and I highly recommend giving it a gander. Honestly thinking about writing a sequel to this post now and diving deeper into the hot take.
7. Dante’s Inferno is Self-Insert Fanfiction comes in at number seven. I said what I said. You can’t tell me I’m wrong.
8. Finally, at number eight, we have Who’s in the House: A Look at “House Taken Over” by Julio Cortazar. I have a soft spot for my Hannah Hot Take posts. They’re just so out there and they make me question why I think the way I do, but I wouldn’t change them for the world.
Thus endeth our list. Thank you for joining me today and thank you for coming with me on this journey down memory lane. It was a lot of fun for me to read through all these old posts and cringe at some of them but mostly smile. And thank you, dear reader, for keeping me going for the past three years. 200 posts is a lot. When I started Reading Has Ruined My Life I anticipated keeping it going for a long time, but I never anticipated just how many posts that meant.
Thank you for the continued support. I look at my sites analytics page nearly every day and it never ceases to amaze me how many people from all over the world are out there reading my reviews, chaotic hot takes, random listicles, and everything else in-between. Thank you!
With that, I bid you all adieu. I shall see you next week with another great post. A less sappy post, but a great post all the same.
Until then, stay safe, wash your hands, and read some good books for me.
